Paleo Diet – Day 29 – 15-Mar-2019

I have crossed the destination 30% of its way. Checked my weight today. It’s still the same. Atleast I am happy in maintaining this. Have to start the exercise ASAP but not giving due priority. That’s the truth to be told.  Will be doing the exercise starting from Monday for sure. I really don’t want to lose this streak of losing weight.

Morning 30 ml coconut oil on empty stomach – Done

Breakfast – Our cook made a yummy yummy coriander chutney. I had three egg omlette and had that as accompaniment. Actually I ended up eating almost half of the chutney.

Lunch – I had cabbage stir fry with coconut oil and spinach. It was a good satisfying breakfast.
Actually I need to be strict on the fact that I should eat two veggies everyday. It was filling actually. Else earlier I would really get hungry for snack very soon.

Snack – I had two guavas.

Dinner – I made baked mushroom with cheese again. I cleaned and cut the mushroom in small bits and added grated cheese and salt and pepper and baked for a good 25 minutes. It was so soft and cheesy. I had added bit more salt it seemed but otherwise no complaints.

Had 3 litres of water.

Paleo Diet – Day 28 – 14-Mar-2019

It was a real hectic day and I started spring cleaning. If I start with one thing to clean immediately one more pops in my mind and the things to clean just heaps up. I also had to meet someone officially and I was at my wit’s end in the morning.

Morning 30 ml coconut oil on empty stomach – Done

Breakfast – As I mentioned earlier, morning was pretty hectic for me and I just had a mouthful of the yesterday night’s left over paneer fry.

Lunch – I had gone to my aunty’s house as she had been missing my kids for quite long. I did not inform her of what I can actually eat for lunch. So I had only 4 tomatoes there, which I had cut , added salt, tossed it and ate. I had a big draught of buttermilk too.

My aunt made vada for the kids which is like my most favourite food in the world. But all I could do yesterday was to stare at them. To be honest, I was little tempted but thankfully didn’t give in.

Dinner – Once I had this frugal meal, I made up my mind to have a feast at night and I did have. I ordered grilled chicken and had it like a pro.

Missed snack too.

Had only 2.5 litres of water.

Day 28 done. 72 days to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paleo Diet – Day 27 – 13-Mar-2019

I made a change in one of the routine today. I changed my hair oil to Keo Karpin. Whenever I oil my hair or my kids hair, I feel I am drinking the oil again by the smell. Although I am used to it now, I started dreading it. So changed the oil at home to the aromatic Keo Karpin. This oil and I go a long way back. When I was small, I used to use this oil. Those days it used to come in glass bottles. It so happened when once the bottle broke, it was changed to coconut oil at our household.

Today too didn’t do any exercise. Sorry couldn’t find time. From tomorrow will definitely do something.

Morning – 30 ml coconut oil on empty stomach – Done

Breakfast – I had kept some slices of fish aside from the day before’s dinner which was too heavy to finish. I had them for breakfast.

Lunch – Again today pumpkin fry.

Snack – I was out shopping and did not have anything

Dinner – I had paneer fry. I made paneer cubes and shallow fried in butter. There are so much left over as I made two packets hoping the kids would eat. But they had something to bite on at the shopping time and didn’t show much interest on the paneer. So I think I will have it for tomorrow’s breakfast as well.

I had two litres of water and half a litre of buttermilk.

Day 27 Done. 73 Days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paleo Diet - Day 26 - 12-Mar-2019

I checked my weight today and still it’s the same. I guess I have to do the exercise too now dutifully. I did not walk or do nay exercise today. Have to schedule works accordingly and start losing weight again dutifully. Lets see in the coming days.

Morning 30 ml coconut oil on empty stomach – Done

Breakfast – I had almonds. A handful of almonds is a real good and satisfying breakfast. Also I see a great change when I have them. I am really satisfied with this diet particularly and I suggest everyone to have this breakfast once in a while.

Lunch – I had white pumpkin, boiled and sautéed with coconut oil. That is a real amazing thing about pumpkins. I was literally feeling so full after having it half and once I completed the bowl, it was like having had a feast. So no complaints on the pumpkin.

Snack – I had two cheese cubes.

Dinner – I had tawa fried fish. It was long since I made fish at home and kids asked for it. So got fish and kept some separately for me to tawa fry. As usual, fish in any form is yummy and it was quite a great finish to the day.

I had 3 litres of water and half a litre of butter milk.

Day 26 done. 74 Days to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paleo diet – Day 25 – 11-Mar-2019

25% of the mission accomplished. Thank you all for the support so far and the encouragement that keeps pushing me forward.

I did step aerobics for a while and it really seemed easy at first. But later in the day, I started experiencing sharp pain in the calf. Maybe I did not practice it for long that I lost touch of it, I felt. I am going to stick on to walking. It is actually better and I get to have good sunlight in the morning and the only time for a nice breeze at Chennai.

Morning – 30 ml coconut oil on empty stomach – Done

Breakfast – I had 3 egg omlette with pudhina chutney. Pudhina chutney should be made without tamarind for paleo. I made with lots of coconut. It was good and a good combination for the omlette. I am not a big fan of eggs to begin with. Now really started to detest the smell. I thought of completely avoiding it, but it seems the easy and filling food anytime. So really want something strong every time to mask the unpleasantries of the egg to go with it.

Lunch – I had ladies finger and bitter gourd. I made both with coconut oil. Bitter gourd made this way is much better and even my daughter had it without grumbling.

Dinner – I had mutton chukka, one of the yummiest food on the planet.

I had 4 litres of water and one litre of lemon water.

Day 25 done. 75 Days to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paleo Diet - Day 24 - 10-Mar-2019

I have started walking from today. It was great walking at 5.45 in my terrace. As the summer has set in very early, it will be difficult to walk even after 6, I feel. Had a chance to click the rising sun and felt elated.

I was advised to do some sort of exercise everyday for 15 minutes and increase it as days go by. Planning to do step aerobics tomorrow. I learnt that when I was working out at the gym and maybe it will be useful to burn my fat now.

Morning 30 ml coconut oil on empty stomach – Done.

Breakfast – I made cauliflower paneer cutlet. I boiled cauliflower florets and blended it with paneer cubes and salt. Made the batter into small balls and rolled into a cutlet form. Then tawa fried it with butter. The aroma was so appetizing. It tasted good and I had tandoori mayonnaise to go with it.

Lunch – I had left over of dried fish from yesterday and I made it as a gravy today with tomatoes and onions and had my fill.

Snack – I had 2 guavas.

Dinner – I had gone shopping and bought a great deal of home furnishing stuff. One of my friends have opened a shop recently and she has awesome collections. I had gone there by walking and had quite a workout.

We had dinner at a tasty sea food eatery , kattumaram near my house. I had 3 pieces of tawa fried fish. It was so yummy but still missed the fish kolambu which had an inviting smell.

Today had 5 Litres of water. It was really satisfying.

Day 24 done. 76 Days to go !!!!!!!!!!!

Breakfast – 3 Egg omlette

Lunch – I had dried fish (karuvadu). Its my favourite and I had it good.

Dinner – It was again a yummy spread. I made baked mushroom with cheese.

Just cut and clean mushrooms (I used Button mushrooms). Add finely chopped tomatoes and grated cheese. I used two blocks of cheese. Seasoned with salt and pepper. Now take a baking bowl or plate. Grease it with butter. Transfer the entire contents to the baking bowl. Bake it for a good 25 minutes.
I expected it to be cheesy but since tomato was more, it came a little juicy. But no complaints on the taste. It was really yummy. Everyone at home liked it and I am planning to try this out with minced chicken or mutton as well in the coming days.

4 litres of water – done.

I did not have lemon water today.

Sundara pandian Anna called me today and appreciated me for keeping up all these days and told me I can have muttom dum biryani made in ghee if I want to , twice a month. I am planning to make this without rice this week. Lets see how it tunrs up. He also advised me to do some sort of exercise at least 10 minutes a day going forward. Am planning to walk from tomorrow morning.

It’s the start of the lent and the end of my second phase of Paleo.

Usually I try to fast on Ash Wednesday and this time too skipped breakfast.

Morning 30 ml coconut oil on empty stomach – Done

Then I went to church and I had a very elevating experience. I was so happy but tired after a long walk. When I went to pick my son at his school, two of my son’s schoolmates mom appreciated me for my perseverance and told me I look great now. That’s enough to call it a day and music and meat to the bones. I just smiled back but I was literally flying. 20 days did wonders , then think about aftereffects of 100 days, was my thought literally. LOL.

Lunch – Had spinach

Snack – Had three guavas

Dinner – Had grilled paneer

Then we were dutifully trying the 7 course menu for fireless cooking contest. It was a great success and we retired happily to bed. The recipes and pics are available in my previous post.

7 Course Meal without Fire

Bismi has her culturals this week and Cooking without fire is one of the competition she has enrolled for. So started our mission. We sat and decided on the list of dishes when I thought it will be great if its  a complete 7 course menu. We made everything starting from soup to dessert and whats more, we completed everything in an hour.

1)  Oats Soup
Initially Soak a cup of oats in water along with pounded ginger and garlic. We soaked for about 40 minutes. Now and then , you stir it or try to blend it with a ladle. After the stipulated time, you squeeze the oats and the ginger-garlic. Take the water. Add finely chopped carrots, salt and pepper. Oats soup is ready.

2    2)  Paneer Lolipop
It was even more easy. Take paneer in a bowl, either cut into small pieces or mashed by hand. Add cheese and mayonnaise to it. Mix it to a chapathi dough consistency. Let it rest for 15 minutes. Then make small balls out of it and stick it on a tooth pick. I chose Tandoori flavoured mayonnaise so that it may get a rich colour. Starter is ready.

     3)  Salad with dip
We made a simple carrot and cucumber salad with a yummy dip. Add curd, paneer, finely grated garlic, salt and pepper and blended it in the mixie. It was most most yummy and I guess it’s a vegetarian equivalent for mayonnaise. It is the rockstar of the day today.

4    4)  Sandwich
Take a salt biscuit. Make small cubes of cheese and place it on top of the biscuits. In another bowl, add grated carrots, finely chopped tomatoes, onions, grated paneer, lemon juice, bit of coriiander and mint and mix it well. Take a spoon of it and place it on the top of the cheese cube. Yummy Sandwich is ready.

      5)   Fried Rice or Non-Fried Rice
Take a bowl of Aval, soak it for 5 minutes. Take it out and spread it on a bowl. Add finely chopped onions, tomatoes, capsicum, grated carrots, mint, coriander and salt. I added green chilly too in a different way. I soaked 2 large chilies in a bowl. After 20 minutes, I placed it in the lemon squeezer and added its juice to the rice. Mix everything gently. Yummy non fried rice is ready.

6    6)  Curd Rice
Take a bowl of Aval. Soak it for 15 minutes. Squeeze it well and take it in a bowl. Add curd, salt, coriander leaves and pomegranate seeds. Creamy curd rice is ready.

7     7)  Colourful Oreo Ladoo
This turned to be the most easy and a favourite to my kids. Take three oreo biscuits. Make it a powder. I placed it in a cover and rolled with a rolling pin. Take the powder. Add condensed milk and make a dough. The consistency should be of a chapathi dough. Make small balls out of it and roll it in sprinkles. Colourful Oreo Ladoo ready for tasting.

All these are must try dishes and I am sure you will enjoy these as much as I did.

Happy Eating !!!!!
